The Figurehead
There is great progress with the figurehead. The maquettes, 50% scale models of the lion and kangaroo, are completed. Howard Bone donated 2 x 3 m of Philippines Mahogany aged 40 years for carving the figurehead. The artist Mark Thompson is showing the drawings to the Chairman Martin K Haese and Ian Webber AM. Carving of the timber for the full size figurehead will now proceed. Scaffolding around the bow will allow for the necessary ship repairs to fit the completed 3 part figurehead.
Jarvis Ford Gepps Cross donated the transportable building for the use as a lunch room for the volunteer tradies.
