CLIPPER SHIP CITY OF ADELAIDE
Dock 2, Honey St, Port Adelaide (extension of Ocean Steamers Rd)
The world's oldest surviving composite clipper ship
Launched in 1864, City of Adelaide sailed for 30 years before becoming a hospital ship and having all masts & fittings removed. In 1923 it was purchased by the Royal Navy, renamed HMS Carrick & had a new wheel fitted. On 16 June we purchased that wheel at an auction in Glasgow. History lives on.
